Meet like-minded conservation folk and enjoying restoring the two DoC Reserves on the Peninsula. It's satisying mahi :)

Current projects we have going in need of willing hands:

Rangitane Reserve

• "Coffee and cake" Wednesday weeding sessions - up to a couple of hours of light weeding, followed by, predictably, coffee and cake :)
• Planting day in June (350+ trees to go in the ground)
• Trap line (ninety minute walk)

Akeake Reserve

• We have eight water catchment tanks in Akeake Reserve, these feed a dish on the ground which is used by birds and kiwi. We need someone to walk the track and clean and refill these dishes - (approx 1 hour).
• "Coffee and cake" Wednesday weeding sessions - up to a couple of hours of light weeding, followed by, predictably, coffee and cake :)

Terry and Ali Goodall

The driving force behind the "Rangitane Ratters". When we were starting out, these guys knocked on nearly every door in Rangitane asking folk, are you trapping and if not, would you like to? They look after the trap line at Rangitane Scenic Reserve which has removed over 150 pests plus trapping their own and several of their neighbours properties.  Always keen to plant trees and pull moth plant - dead set good guys.

Vicky Gooch

Vicky looks after 50 traps in Akeake Reserve and Doves Bay Marina, walking the lines weekly. In four years, Vicky and husband Will have removed over 1,100 pests! With a background in horticulture, she's always keen to plant a tree. Thank you Vicky & Will for all your amazing work, it's made a huge difference to the birdlife in Opito Bay.

Steve and Julie May

These guys walk dry Akeake Reserve most days during summer refilling water dishes for kiwi and other birds. Extremely popular service, with customers waiting for their arrival :) We've got eight catchment systems in place now (one pictured) but prior to that they carried water in. Who needs a gym membership! And all this after their working day on the farm. Steve and Julie are two of our trustees.

Wade and Sue Rowsell

These wonderful guys knocked on most doors in Opito Bay when we were starting out, finding out who was already trapping and who would like to.  They look after the beach front trapline from Opito Bay around to Appletree Bay. Lots of rodents live on the waterfront, they've removed 238 of them! If you're driving out to Opito Bay and wondering why you don't see a lot of moth plant on the roadside - Wade and Sue are to blame.

Kay Calder

Kay's our wonderful Doves Bay Coordinator. She knocked on most doors in Doves Bay when we were starting out finding out who was trapping and who would like to. Kay traps her own and neighbours properties and has removed over 150 pests :)
